As you may know, Murray was my first participant for this project. Murray and Glen's stories were ones that deeply impacted me.
I met these two individually when I started this project, not knowing they were best buds.
I love the friendship these two have together. They take care of one another and they treat each other like family. They both share characteristics of bravery, compassion, and respect.
Yesterday (Aug 31 2023), I met up with Murray to give him a print of his newest photograph, along with the story I wrote about him. He teared up, and was speechless.
The night before, I saw Glen collecting and so we chatted for a while. He told me that every time he walks by our house, he waves, even if we’re not outside. Recently, I’ve noticed he’s also been bringing up our empty recycling bins from the road.
When meeting the two of them yesterday, Glen went over to Burger King and brought back three sandwiches. One for each of his friends, and one he offered to me. He’s the type of guy who takes care of others before he takes care of himself. He’s very selfless.
Later that afternoon, I got a knock on my door from Glen. He thought I walked home after meeting with them and wanted to make sure I made it home safe.
These two are such beautiful human beings and I’m so glad I am able to know them and their story.
If you see someone out on the streets, say hello. Treat them like a human being. So many of them have the kindest hearts and would give you their shirt off their back.
